Local wrestling supporters took a frigid dip Saturday in a partially frozen pond across from the Riverside Casino & Golf Resort in support of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club’s inaugural Arctic Plunge. Thirty-six participants, including Iowa football and wrestling coaches Kirk Ferentz, Chris Doyle, Tom Brands, Terry Brands and LeVar Woods took the plunge along with HWC wrestlers and fans. “People jumping into the water is good, but it’s a little more fun to see what kinds of costumes people can come up with,” Eustice said. Iowa coach Tom Brands said the worst part was waiting to jump but that he didn’t feel much once he hit the water.
